Being a responsible corporate citizen, ERGON runs the business with transparency, ethics, and zero tolerance to corruption and discrimination. ERGON creates jobs and opportunities and strengthens neighborhoods by integrating them in the process, supplying the resources, and helping them to flourish. ERGON, a signatory member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), carries the same principles while moving forward to doing good by doing well in its every affairs and dealing with people and planet. Education


ERGON deeply cares about education for the community. ERGON envisages a more sustainable world and believes education and training are the key to moving society towards sustainability. Education has the power to guide and encourage people to explore economical, political, social, cultural, and technological advancements for individual and collective development. ERGON embedded with the value of being in the society as a responsible corporate citizen, has taken initiatives for making education more accessible.




Elementary Education


ERGON built and operates two schools in the underprivileged tea garden community at Shabazpur. Children of tea garden workers are availing primary education with 100% scholarship.



General Education


ERGON Kindergarten, High School, and College provide educational facilities for the local community at Pabna. The initiative enables the children to access quality education at a subsidized tuition fee.



Technical Education


ERGON College of Nursing is established with a view to contributing to the health care sector in Bangladesh by producing a large number of skilled and qualified nurses. Hundreds of trained nurses passed out of the college every year are taking job responsibilities at various hospital facilities at home and abroad.



Reconstruction and Aiding Public Library


ERGON reconstructed Annoda Gobinda Public library which is a treasure-trove of knowledge in the great region of north Bengal. It has rare collections. ERGON provides logistics to retain this rich heritage of the nation.


Health


A prosperous, flourishing society depends on having a healthy population. And businesses depend on healthy individuals, including employees, customers, and suppliers, for their long-term success. ERGON being a force for good to society takes initiatives to shape the conditions in which people expect to have their health services. ERGON sees material gain not as the sole purpose of the company but as one outcome that benefits society and contributes to the quality of people’s lives by having a positive impact on the overall health of the community.




Continual Medical Education (CME) & Rural Health Practitioner Education Program (RHPEP)

ERGON runs CME and RHPEP on regular basis. The aim is to provide up-to-date information on health science, novel drug products, community medicines, and medical inventions to health professionals for keeping them better informed. The network of thousands of informed physicians across the country helps to treat and educate the community on the cure and preventive maintenance of health.



Vaccination & Breast-Feeding Awareness Campaign

Empowerment


ERGON Group is involved in various community development programs. These programs aim to achieve the socio-economic freedom of rural women, empower underprivileged people, and develop the skills and competency of unemployed youths. ERGON also keeps a constant focus on the emerging scopes in society to come forward with more assistance.




Socio-Economic Freedom of Rural Women

ERGON partners with NGO known as Lions Clubs International by providing ERGON consumer goods at trade price in order to support rural women running last-mile distribution networks. These entrepreneurial projects supply quality essential consumer goods, promote better health, hygiene and nutrition, and create supplemental incomes for them in the process. Lions Clubs International activates micro-entrepreneurs to run Lions Clubs International Hubs (stockiest points), from where goods reach the hands of rural consumers through a wide network of micro-merchants and women door-to-door sales agents called Aparajitas (means “women who do not accept defeat”). More than 300 women are being trained and recruited as Aparajita whose are responsible of selling Lions Clubs International Toiletries products such as Glore Soap, Glore Beauty Soap, CleenX, , Himsagor coconut oil etc. in their local community. This will eventually help them (Aparajita) to make a better living by earning revenue from selling STL Products.



Basak Leaf Cultivation


In collaboration with NGOs, ERGON trains marginal people in the rural area on how to cultivate medicinal plant-like ‘Basak’ which again ERGON buys back from them with a high average market price. Cultivators, having no land of their own, are assisted to utilize unused land on the road flanks and pond banks. ERGON also facilitates them with warehousing, sales point, and transportation. More than 10,000 men and women are now directly involved in the production. These leaves are used as raw material for producing one of the most popular, effective, sugar-free, non-sedating herbal cough syrups.




Culture


To preserve the tradition and culture of Bangla folk music and to archive those properly for the future generations as well as to explore new talent in Bangla folk music, Magic Bauliana, the only folk music reality show, started its journey on 2020. 3rd season of Magic Bauliana was executed on 2021. It is one of the most highly celebrated folk event to date.
